What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an application management system launched in 2015 that oversees three of Canada’s primary economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
These programs utilize the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assign point values based on various human capital factors, including language proficiency, education, work experience, age, and occupation. Candidates can also earn points for having relatives in Canada, immigrating with a spouse or partner, or achieving a high Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score in English and French.Latest Express Entry Draw Update

Candidates can also earn points for having relatives in Canada, immigrating with a spouse or partner, or achieving a high Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score in English and French.
Combined, the scores for various factors determine a candidate’s overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Candidates with the highest scores are most likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in upcoming Express Entry draws.
Last year, IRCC introduced category-based selection draws for Express Entry candidates with specific attributes, such as work experience or language skills. The selected categories include:
- Healthcare
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions
- Trades
- Transport
- Agriculture and Agri-food
- French language proficiency
IRCC chose these categories after consulting with various stakeholders to address gaps in high-demand sectors and demographic targets. For instance, French language proficiency aims to support the department’s goal of increasing newcomer settlement in French-minority communities outside Quebec.
After receiving an ITA, candidates have 60 days to submit their final application to IRCC. The department aims to process completed Express Entry applications within six months.
